Investing in NH's Next Generation: Building Futures Through Opportunity
Diane Davidson, Bill Weideacher, and the team members of The Fine Homes Group at Keller Williams Metropolitan Realty are proud to be considered experts in real estate and equally proud of their commitment to bettering the lives of young people in and around Bedford.
Making a Difference: The Fine Homes Group Foundation
Instead of another article about the ever-changing landscape of real estate, we would like to highlight stories of some of the many Bedford graduates who have benefitted from our philanthropic efforts. Since 2016, The Fine Homes Group Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been awarding scholarships to high school seniors in Bedford and beyond. With $100 donated from every FHG transaction, over $100,000 has been awarded to students pursuing higher education. We were curious and wondered what our deserving winners have been doing, so read on for some inspiring updates.
2016: Kaleigh O’Keefe Zupon
Kaleigh is a nurse at Boston Medical Center, working in both the Emergency Department and the Surgical/Neurocritical Intensive Care Unit. “I love working at BMC because of the opportunity to care for its diverse and underserved community,” she writes. Beyond nursing, Kaleigh and her wife are emergency foster parents to newborns. Reflecting on the FHG Scholarship, she shares, “It allowed me to attend Ohio State with reduced financial stress, laying the foundation for my career. The scholarship’s focus on giving back resonates deeply with my personal and professional life.”
2019: Raiden Ferreira
Raiden teaches mathematics at a Title I high school in Virginia, supporting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. “My role goes beyond teaching math—I strive to build a supportive environment where students feel capable of success.” Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching, Raiden credits the scholarship for easing the financial burden of attending college out of state, enabling Rai to focus on academic and personal growth.
2019: Megan Spencer
Megan earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Saint Anselm College and credits the FHG Scholarship for helping cover the cost of books for her teacher education program. Megan now works in the Entertainment Department at Walt Disney World and is preparing for a new show at Universal’s Epic Universe theme park.
2020: Alexa Cannon
Alexa is completing her degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology at Unity Environmental
University and plans to attend veterinary school. “The scholarship helped me manage additional expenses when I had to transfer colleges after my freshman year,” she explains. Alexa fosters reptiles for a rescue, volunteers at a vet’s office, and participated in a memorable conservation program in South Africa last summer.
2021: Olivia Archard
A senior at NYU, Olivia is double majoring in History and Global Literature Studies with a minor in Politics. She interned as a Policy and Communications Lead for NY State Assemblymember Grace Lee. “The scholarship’s financial support allowed me to focus fully on my studies and extracurriculars. The generosity of Diane Davidson and The Fine Homes Group inspires my commitment to paying it forward.”
2021: Daniel Cronin
Danny is finishing his biology degree at Bates College and applying to graduate programs in human nutrition. “Attending a private liberal arts college wasn’t cheap, so the scholarship’s support made a meaningful difference,” he says. Last summer, Danny interned with the Lake Sunapee Protective Association, gaining lab experience while enjoying an unforgettable summer by the lake.
2022: Nicole Pepin
Nicole will graduate from the University of New England with a BS in Public Health and plans to pursue a nursing degree at the University of Southern Maine. “The scholarship was not only a financial asset but also encouragement to apply for future opportunities,” she shares. Nicole worked as a nursing assistant at a Fresh Air Fund camp, witnessing firsthand how income disparities affect health outcomes. “It inspires me to advocate for equitable healthcare as a future nurse practitioner.”
2024: Christopher Chong
Christopher is pursuing an Electrical Associates degree at Manchester Community College while working toward his Journeyman License. “The scholarship allowed me to pay off my first-semester tuition and purchase essential tools,” he says. “These tools have greatly enhanced my capability on job sites, helping me present myself as a
well-equipped apprentice.”
2024: Julian Robinson
Julian is earning his Electrical Technician certificate at MCC and is inspired by his cousin, a successful electrician. The scholarship helped him afford textbooks and tools for the program. Outside of school, Julian pursues acting and recently placed fourth in his age division as Young Adult Male Actor of the Year at the IMTA competition in Los Angeles.
