Tell us where you’re from and how you entered your careers in real estate.
Bill was raised in Lancaster, New Hampshire where his parents owned a campground and a gift shop. His father was a renowned artist and the family moved to Manchester when Bill was a teenager. After graduating from high school he went on to Johnson & Wales and discovered that working in the culinary field on nights and weekends was decidedly not for him. He began his career in residential real estate in 1983 as a rental agent. Over the years, he presided over thousands of real estate transactions and served as the president of the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS® twice.

I also hail from New England and grew up in Sharon, MA. I began my real estate career in an upscale urban San Francisco firm in 1979. Eventually, I returned to New England and dove into a Boston luxury waterfront condominium development on the north shore and then built a marketing department for a four office company that later became a Sotheby’s affiliate. In 1992 I went back to listing and selling. I returned to what I loved, working directly with buyers and sellers. I started my family and had two beautiful daughters in 1998 and 2001 and I was raising them outside of Boston. In 2004 I met Bill at a conference where I was accepting an award for being the number two GMAC agent in the country which was an incredible honor. At the time he was managing all eight offices of Carlson GMAC Real Estate in New Hampshire and we were introduced. I really found a kindred spirit in Bill. Our real estate philosophies and values aligned and I admired his integrity. We’ve been a great team ever since.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
In an effort to create a new real estate culture, Bill and a then-partner became the owners of Keller Williams Realty Metropolitan in Bedford. It was exciting to witness. I was still living and working in the Boston area with my girls. Bill and I decided to move our family to New Hampshire in 2008 and I continued to commute to Boston to work but found it difficult to not sell real estate where I lived. I’d be at an event in New Hampshire and hear someone discussing what color of paint to use in their house as they prepared it for sale, and it was hard not to jump in. I’ll be honest, the commute was wearing on me. I was really fulfilled with my work in Boston and I had a great real estate team that I loved working with but I liked what was going on in New Hampshire with Keller Williams. I was torn, but then I thought why not do both? I decided to get my New Hampshire real estate license and dive in. I founded The Fine Homes Group in 2015 with Bill. I’m lucky to have maintained my long-term city real estate partner and have an active team in the Boston office so I truly have the best of both worlds. Our customers who move across state lines have an agency that knows both markets exceptionally well.

What is unique about your agency and what sets you apart?
The Fine Homes Group was founded to elevate the way real estate is discovered, provided, and serviced. After 40+ years in many aspects of the business, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. We have mindfully curated an unparalleled team to deliver the best possible experience for our clients. We constantly strive to raise the bar of our standards and procedures and we strive to put our customers first and deliver consistently excellent service.  Behind the scenes, we have fun as a group, and I like to invest in our newly licensed agents through a focus on training, education, and ethics. We know New Hampshire. We understand the intricacies of Boston’s metropolitan and suburban markets. We take pride in showcasing our area’s fabulous lifestyle and exceptional real estate.

Tell us about your team.
I really think we’re known for our professionalism and putting the customer first. We take our jobs seriously. We invest in and constantly focus on training and best practices. And we’ve built our reputation on trust.  If I were to make one recommendation it would be to work with someone you trust. To that end we have an incredible team that makes up The Fine Homes Group. I’d like to thank our agents, Lisa Codair, Karen Eafrati, Kathleen Edwards, Blakleigh Flaherty, Mike Laflamme, Niki Loiko, Amanda Plecinoga and Bill Sheehan for making us such a huge success not only for our business but for the customers we serve. And we couldn’t do any of it without the essential, behind-the-scenes work of our transaction and listing coordinators Shay Fowler and April Hinton.

What else should we know about your business?
We take our motto seriously: “Real estate, it’s personal. Giving back, it’s our legacy.” We absolutely believe in giving back to our community. We established the FHG Scholarship Fund in 2016 and humbly began by giving one scholarship to a deserving student. It’s remarkable but in just five years I’m happy to report that we awarded a dozen scholarships totaling over $13,500 in 2021 and we’re hoping to disburse $20,000 in award scholarships in 2022. We are so proud of the support of our entire team. For every Fine Homes Group transaction, we donate $100 to our scholarship fund. It’s a win-win for our clients and for our community.

Any final thoughts?
Beyond incredible listings, I really think we’re known for thoughtful and trusted advice, our market expertise, and forward-thinking support to both owners and buyers. We pair the industry’s best and most impactful tools with sought-after data analysis and a holistic approach to ensure that those in search of remarkable living achieve just that.
