Long before Dr. Tyler Hales became known for transforming smiles, he was a Southern California kid who spent countless hours surfing the waves of Newport Beach. Growing up in nearby Tustin, Orange County always felt like home. Although life eventually took him to Ireland, Utah, and Colorado, he was continually drawn back to the coastal community that shaped him. Today, he lives in San Clemente and welcomes patients from across the country and around the world to his practice in Corona del Mar.

 

Medicine has always been woven into Dr. Hales' family story. With both his father and grandfather serving as anesthesiologists, he initially assumed he would follow a similar path. But during his sophomore year of college, he realized he wanted something that blended science with creativity—a career that allowed him to work with his hands while making a meaningful difference in people's lives.

 

After shadowing a dentist, everything clicked, and he immediately knew he had found his calling.

 

As his career progressed, Dr. Hales realized he wanted to dedicate himself entirely to mastering one specialty. Six years ago, he made the decision to focus exclusively on veneers and smile transformations, leading to the creation of Hales Aesthetic in Corona del Mar, a practice devoted entirely to cosmetic dentistry. Rather than offering routine cleanings or general dental services, every consultation, treatment plan, and final result is centered on helping patients achieve a smile that looks natural, authentic, and uniquely their own.

 

For Dr. Hales, every smile is more than a dental procedure—it's a work of art. No two smiles are ever the same, and every treatment is carefully customized to complement each patient's facial features, personality, and long-term dental health.

 

One of the qualities that truly sets Hales Aesthetic apart is its collaboration with master ceramist Daniel Yang, whose laboratory sits directly beside his practice. Rather than working behind the scenes, Yang partners closely with Dr. Hales throughout the smile design process, allowing patients to collaborate with both the dentist and the artist creating their veneers. Yet for Dr. Hales, technical excellence is only part of the story. The greatest reward comes when patients begin to see themselves differently. Grateful for the mentors who helped shape his career, he created The Aesthetic Edge Course, an educational program that teaches advanced cosmetic dentistry techniques to dentists from around the world. By sharing his knowledge and experiences, he hopes to elevate the profession by helping other dentists create beautiful, life-changing results for their own patients.

 

Despite treating celebrity clients and patients who travel from around the globe for his expertise, Dr. Hales remains grounded by the people who matter most. He credits his wife, Audra—his college sweetheart and biggest supporter—with encouraging him through every stage of his journey. Together, they are raising four children, and whether they're surfing, riding bikes along the beach, traveling, or cheering from the sidelines at youth sporting events, family time remains his greatest priority.

 

He also attributes his success to his exceptional team, including Cosmetic Concierge Madi, Clinical Director Maria, and master ceramist Daniel Yang, whose talent and shared vision have helped make Hales Aesthetic what it is today.
