For over 25 years, Amy Scarborough proudly calls Katy, Texas home.
Amy earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). She studied design from NYIAD and received her certification for Home Staging in 2015. She started her home staging business, Happy is the After, in 2017. She closed the doors for good and combined her love of real estate and staging in 2020.
Amy has been married to her husband, Chris Scarborough, for 25 years. Together, they’re raising three amazing children: Grace, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin; Chris, a high school senior; and Savannah, a seventh grader in Katy ISD. She and her family are members of Second Baptist Church.

With three children raised in the district, Amy understands firsthand how vital strong schools are to the heart of a community—and she’s passionate about helping them thrive.

Every business faces challenges. Can you share insights into any challenges your business has overcome and the growth that resulted?
Amy stepped out of her comfort zone when transitioning into her career as a real estate agent. One of the biggest challenges Amy faced was shifting from being a creative service provider to becoming a small business owner and leader. It required not only continuing education and licensing but also building systems, marketing strategies, and client pipelines from the ground up—all while maintaining the high-touch, personal service she’s known for.
Navigating a competitive industry also presented its hurdles. Establishing a new brand, earning client trust, and standing out in a saturated market meant leaning into what made her unique—her design expertise, deep community knowledge, and heart-centered approach to service.

Amy’s dream is to continue building a boutique real estate brand known for exceptional service, expert design insight, and deep local knowledge, all while staying personal, approachable, and client-focused.

Given your professional expertise and experiences, what advice do you have for our residents, if any?
Two pieces of advice would be:
"Don't over-improve." Spending more on upgrades than your home or neighborhood can support—can actually work against you when it’s time to sell. Even if you’re not planning to sell soon, it’s smart to know what homes in your section are listing and selling for. It helps you stay informed and to plan upgrades wisely.
Attend HOA meetings, support local events, and connect with neighbors. Cross Creek isn’t just a place to live—it’s a community. Staying active helps you stay informed and gives you a voice in shaping your neighborhood’s future.
