Meet Monty!

Living the Life of Riley

He was named Monty but he is known endearingly as … Bubba, Montoya Jackson, Montylicious, My Boy, Mont, and Monty Moo to name just a few. He made Del Ray his home in the fall of 2020, joining two other wheaten terriers in the neighborhood – Rooney and Winston. He is the sweetest and biggest goofball, with the wildest hair. He loves people and tolerates other dogs. He doesn’t play fetch but would rather be chased. And boy does he love to run! On Saturday mornings, he wakes up early and we walk to the farmer’s market where he spends time with the composting volunteers.
On our walks, he loves to stop people for pets and is assertively affectionate. The Del Ray neighbors can’t resist, especially when he sits on their feet or leans against them. He prefers walks on Dewitt and Commonwealth to those on Mount Vernon, and he seeks out the side streets with the best treats. His favorite pass time is sitting on any cool patch of grass (preferably while there is a gentle breeze) and contemplating the secrets of life or peering out of the window to watch (and bark) at the Del Ray residents walking by. He was born a soft-coated wheaten terrier, but I think he was meant to be a sled-pulling Husky. As the magnet on my car says, “my dog digs Del Ray.”
