In February, Visit Alexandria launched its new marketing campaign -- Unlock Your Story. Alexandria’s story is centuries in the making. This campaign invites residents and visitors alike to explore the many narratives of community members and business owners that shape who we are as a city. It’s a reminder that Alexandria’s history is not a single chapter, but a living collection of voices and traditions that continue to unfold.

One of those stories is on full display every March at the Annual Ballyshaners St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Ballyshaners work to preserve the heritage and culture of the Irish and share it with the numerous people of Irish descent who are active in Alexandria’s cultural, economic, political, and social life, as well as the broader community. For 43 years, the Ballyshaners have brought together pipe bands, Irish dancers, and thousands of residents for this parade.
