Greet-Tings Del Ray!
Dear neighbors,
November is a month of gratitude and remembrance in Del Ray. We pause to honor our veterans on Veterans Day, giving thanks for their service and sacrifice. Later in the month, we gather with friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving—a holiday that reminds us to appreciate community and tradition. This year is extra special, as Alexandria marks the 50th anniversary of the Turkey Trot, a beloved event that brings neighbors together in the spirit of fun and fitness.
In this issue, we feature a cover story on Adaarema Kelly, the new principal at Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School Old Town, which serves many Del Ray families. We also spotlight Matt & Tony’s All Day Breakfast + Bar, one of our longtime supporters, and take a look back at the cultural legacy of Remember the Titans, a film that continues to inspire more than two decades after its release.
We are also pleased to welcome four new sponsors: First Command financial advisors in Crystal City, Demaine Funeral Home in Old Town, Capital City Nurses out of Chevy Chase, MD, and my employer from many moons ago, GALA Hispanic Theatre in Washington, DC. Their support—along with that of all our sponsors and contributors—helps make this magazine possible. We encourage you to keep our sponsors in mind when making your purchasing decisions.
As the season of thanks unfolds, we’re reminded how fortunate we are to live in a community as vibrant and connected as Del Ray.
With warmest regards,
***
