Ziek and I work very well together. Through daily training, deployment, and care, our partnership has grown into a strong bond. I am grateful I get to work beside my best friend every shift.

K9 Ziek is an important asset to our police department, enhancing officer safety and operational effectiveness. He plays a key role in tracking suspects, locating missing persons, conducting safe building searches, and detecting illegal drugs, directly contributing to crime reduction and public safety. Ziek also serves as a positive engagement for the department by strengthening community trust.

K9 Ziek is confident, driven, and highly focused while working. Off duty, he is loyal, playful and just like every other dog.
Does Ziek require constant training? Elaborate on his day-to-day operations.
Yes, he requires additional training. We train twice a month with other local K-9 units. I typically try and do some sort of training with Ziek everyday whether we are working or not. We regularly train in tracking, building and area searches, suspect apprehension, obedience, and narcotics detection to maintain his dual-purpose certifications.

The community should know that Ziek is more than a police dog; he is a trusted partner who is always excited to go to work everyday. Off duty, Ziek loves his walks. playing fetch and chewing on his many toys.
