Meet Glo and Get Lost in Her Eyes

The Irvins

How long has your family lived in the neighborhood?
We have lived in Hershey since October 2010.
What's your pet's name, age, sex, and breed / type? Please share any interesting background about their breed, if applicable.
Glo is a female husky-mix, she is about a year and a half old.
When and how did your pet come to join your family?
Glo joined our family in September 2025. London, our daughter, wants to be a vet when she grows up and started volunteering at the Harrisburg Humane Society. She quickly fell in love with lots of fur friends. After taking Glo out for day visits she resonated well with our family Jaden (son), London (daughter), Amanda (mom), and Chris (dad).
Is there a story behind your pet’s name? How did you and your family come up with it?
Glo was given her name from the Harrisburg Humane Society due to her mismatched eyes, one is brown and one is baby blue. This is known as heterochromia--a genetic mutation that reduces melanin pigment and is very common in huskies.
What's the one trait or behavior that makes your pet stand out from the rest?
Glo LOVES walks and playing fetch outside, and especially in the snow.
Does your pet have any favorite toys or treats?
Glo's favorite toy is a tennis ball and her rope “lovey.”
Tell us about your favorite memory with your pet.
Taking Glo out in a snowstorm, she kept catching snowflakes, having "zoomies" around the yard, and pouncing through the fresh powder.
Are there any local businesses or parks your pet particularly enjoys visiting?
Glo started "school" at Playful Pups where she recently graduated from the A to Z Mind Your Manners training program. Glo learned commands such as "wait", "leave it", "touch", and much more!
If your pet could choose any adventure to go on, what would it be?
A long walk/run through the snow.
