Meet Carrie Jacobs, author of sweet small town romance. She's a familiar face to visitors
to the annual Chocolate Town Book Festival, put on by the Hershey Library the first Saturday of October.
Tell us a little about you.
I've always been a small-town girl at heart. I live with my very own romcom hero husband, who is incredibly supportive, and always willing to carry heavy boxes full of books! We are empty-nesters except for a houseful of judgmental cats.
I've been surrounded by books my entire life, and I've always been drawn to stories and storytelling, but it wasn't until 2014 that I started building a writing career. I took writing and business classes, joined writers' groups, and worked hard to hone my craft. I explored many different publishing paths, and eventually decided to publish independently.
My first novel, Drunk on a Plane, launched on March 15, 2020. Yep, the day before everything went into lockdown. Since then, I've published twelve more books, for a total of lucky number thirteen.
Tell us about your books.
My books are sweet, low-spice, small town romances with strong, capable heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and the occasional scene-stealing pet. My
readers say they are like reading a Hallmark movie in a book, and I think that's accurate! My first series is an 8-book series set in the fictional town of Hickory Hollow, which is loosely based on my hometown and some of my favorite places we've visited. Each book is its
own story and doesn't have to be read in any particular order, and characters make cameo appearances across each other's books.
My Willow Creek trilogy follows three siblings who are connected to their family's farm-turned-event-venue. I recommend reading these in order for maximum enjoyment. All of them will make you laugh for sure, might make you cry a little, and will always deliver a happy ending.
Where can we find your books? You can find my books at Cupboard Maker Books in Enola, The Book Bar in Palmyra, The Crooked Shelf Bookshop in Lewistown and at your favorite online retailer.
Where do you get your inspiration? Everywhere! It's no secret that Drunk on a Plane was inspired by the Dierks Bentley song. Cat Burglar was inspired by a news article about a thieving feline, and Unexpected Treasure was inspired by my love for the first two movies in The Mummy franchise. (No mummies in my book, but there is hidden treasure and a dreamy hero!)
