Maggie and Scout: shining Golden love in Hershey
Maggie (left) and Scout
Meet the Pups: Maggie—officially Carova Hope Blooms Magnolia de Charleston—arrived as a beautiful gift from her breeder, part of the Charleston litter born in Feb'19 in Virginia Beach, VA. True to her name, she brings grace and calm, the steady heartbeat of our home. Scout—Carova-Lake Gaston Living the Dream on the Scout—joined us from the Watercraft Litter born in Feb '22 in North Carolina, all sunshine and curiosity. His lineage carries special meaning: he’s the great nephew of our first golden, Carova Theatre Presents Max-A-Million (Max). Together, Maggie and Scout are more than pets; they’re continuity—soft paws linking past and present.
Origin Story: Our golden retriever story began in the ’90s, when dear friends in Hershey trusted us to dog‑sit their goldens while they traveled abroad. When it was time to welcome a pet into our own home, choosing goldens felt natural. Gentle hearts and eager spirits.
It's all in the Name: When the breeder gifted Maggie to me, I knew “Hope” belonged in her name. Her name carries place, grace, and promise. Scout’s name flowed from his beginnings in the Watercraft litter. I pictured a handsome golden boy with strength and presence and wanted a name that reflected both. I researched yacht names and discovered one called "Scout". It fit him perfectly! Confident, adventurous, and anchored in water. Together, Maggie and Scout remind me that names can tell a family’s story—rooted in gratitude, inspired by journeys, and buoyed by hope.
Golden Love: Golden retrievers are truly the heart of our family—and the perfect companions for life with three grandbabies ages 8 months to 5½ years. Their gentle nature and innate patience make them ideal family pets. For us, Maggie and Scout aren’t just dogs; they’re trusted companions who bring a sense of peace to every generation under our roof.
Skills and Thrills: Maggie is our quiet genius—her smelling skills are exceptional. In scent work, she conquers all hidden‑scent challenges trainers throw her way, even tracking deeply placed odors. Scout is the athlete! He lives for sports time—catching balls, carrying sticks, and speed‑running to keep pace with us on our ATVs. Give him water and he’s in his element. When we’re in Hershey, Maggie and Scout love nothing more than hanging out in the backyard—watching the world go by. But their true paradise is our country house. With 85 acres of open space, it’s the love of their lives. Here, they run free; splashing through streams, leaping over logs on mountain trails, and bounding like golden streaks of joy.
