The Hershey Eagles: Central PA's premier military hockey club

Hershey Eagles game night November 2025

Please give readers a brief background and description of the Hershey Eagles organization.
The Hershey Eagles Military Hockey Club was formed in the summer of 2024 and became an official non-profit organization in 2025. We are an organization aimed at providing an outlet for our nation's current and former service members through ice hockey. We also help foster a military community for veterans who often experience a sense of isolation following their service.
What is the mission and purpose of the club?
The Eagles want to provide service members and veterans with a community and an opportunity for physical, mental, and spiritual growth through the sport of ice hockey, both on and off the ice. We not only want to provide that military sense of camaraderie for our players but give back to our military community through charity games, donations, fundraisers, and volunteering.
Who makes up the roster and who do you play against?
The roster is made up of active duty, reserve, and veteran service members whose military experience ranges from junior enlisted that completed four years of service to retired officers.
The Hershey Eagles play in local and non-local tournaments against civilian and military teams. Our players also play for a local affiliate team, the Harrisburg Howitzers, in a seasonal league at the Twin Ponds Ice Arena in Harrisburg. Recently, the Hershey Eagles hosted the Delmarva Warriors, another military hockey program, at the Giant Center for an exhibition game that was a tremendous success. The number of tournaments and events we participate in continues to grow as our program gains traction within the ice hockey community.
Describe the impact of this organization in the lives of your players.
For our members this organization allows them to connect with like-minded individuals who all enjoy the sport of ice hockey and also have a shared experience of serving in our nation's military. Utilizing teamwork to achieve a shared goal is something we've all experienced from our time in the military. For veterans that seems to be especially important. The impact is evident through players arriving ahead of schedule or staying late in order to share stories and connect.
How has the community of Hershey supported the organization?
The community of Hershey has been instrumental in our development as an organization. In the aforementioned exhibition game with the Delmarva Warriors, the Hershey Bears were kind enough to host us at the Giant Center and also donated resources that allowed us to create an amazing spectacle for our family and friends. We'd like to give a special thanks to the Hershey Bears' VP of Hockey Operations, Bryan Helmer, who orchestrated the event and participated in a ceremonial puck drop between the two military teams. It gave our players the experience of a lifetime to play on such a grand scale in front of their loved ones. The Hershey Eagles continue to host practices at the Giant Center and Hershey Park Arena.
What do you want our readers to know about the Hershey Eagles?
Our doors are open to any current or former service members looking for that sense of camaraderie and community outside of the military. We offer the opportunity to play the amazing sport of ice hockey whether you grew up playing or have never put on a pair of skates. Our organization is young and dependent on donations and sponsors from within the community to help us serve our service members.
