Cam Sweeney: Breaking records at Hershey High
Tip Off Tournament Championship Dec 2025
My name is Cameron Sweeney, and I am a 17-year-old senior at Hershey High School. I play two sports: football and basketball. My basketball position is point guard, where I focus on scoring, playmaking, and leadership on the court.
I started playing basketball at age six. I was inspired by my older brothers and Dad (who is a coach) who encouraged me to work hard and stay disciplined. I look up to players who lead by example, work on their craft, and put their team first. The Hershey community really shows up for sports, and that helps drive my motivation to succeed.
One of my favorite moments of my athletic career was helping my team to the state championship game and being named an All-State basketball player. Those experiences showed me the value of teamwork, preparation, and perseverance.
Sports have taught me discipline, accountability, and resilience. I’ve learned that success comes from consistent work when no one is watching, and that setbacks are opportunities to grow. Being part of a team has also taught me leadership, humility, and the importance of supporting others. Wins feel great, but the lessons learned through adversity have shaped me the most—both as an athlete and as a person.
My father, Coach Blackburn, Coach Trevor and Coach Eric Guzman have played a huge role in my development. They’ve pushed me to raise my standards, hold myself accountable, and believe in my abilities. Their guidance has helped shape my work ethic and mindset.
My goal is to continue competing at a high level after high school, going to further develop my skills in basketball while pursuing my education. I plan to attend a prep school after graduation to prepare for the next level athletically and academically. Beyond sports, I want to grow into a leader who gives back to my community and inspires younger athletes to believe in themselves and stay focused on their goals.
