How long have you lived in Hershey?
My husband was born and raised right here in Hershey, and for the past 14 years, we’ve been so fortunate to put down roots in this special town ourselves. Living in downtown Hershey has been such a gift for our family. We have close relatives on nearly every street, which makes it feel like one big neighborhood gathering wherever we go!
Tell us more about your precious pet!
Largo is a 5 year old American Black Lab (9/15/20) and comes from an impressive background—her mom and dad are both purebred American Labs, and her dad, Gus, was a Champion Duck Hunting Dog. Largo is all about the good life. She absolutely loves swimming in the lake, soaking up the sunshine, and curling up for long naps. With her big heart and easygoing spirit, Largo embodies the carefree, happy life we adore.
When and how did your pet come to join your family?
We brought Largo home at just 8 weeks old; a close family friend had a Lab from a breeder expecting another litter, which was perfect timing for us. That friend's lab (Nelly) is Largo's aunt!
Is there a story behind your pet’s name? How did you and your family come up with it?
My family has deep roots in the Florida Keys and I grew up in Key Largo. I met my husband while he was on a fishing vacation in the Keys. When we were thinking of names for our new puppy, we wanted her name to be something special and were thinking of Isla. This was a girl‘s name I wanted if we ever had a daughter. One day he suggested Largo and it’s stuck, so her formal name is Largo Isla Hoover.
Tell us about your favorite memory with your pet.
Every moment with Largo is special! I think our best memories so far are lake days and her enjoying all of it. She swims, rides on the little boat when we fish, and she goes paddleboarding with my daughter.
Who are your pet's favorite playmates?
My sister-in-law lives right behind us. She has a small miniature Schnauzer named Wilson who is 15 pounds and only a week older than Largo. They are cousins and best friends! We share one big backyard with an alley running through it and they absolutely LOVE to play together.
