Lexi Schultz: Balancing Athletics and Academics

Hi! My name is Lexi Schulz, and I am a 17-year-old senior at Hershey High School. I have lived in Hershey my entire life, and I truly value how connected and welcoming it is. The strong sense of support people show for one another has shaped who I am and has helped me grow both personally and athletically.
I have been involved in sports and dance since middle school, and in high school I played lacrosse and field hockey. As a midfielder, I enjoy being part of a team that pushes one another to improve. Playing alongside dedicated teammates has taught me the importance of effort, communication, and encouragement in achieving shared goals.
I began playing field hockey in fourth grade, and my greatest inspiration has always been my sister. Watching her dedication to this sport motivated me to follow in her footsteps. She became my role model and encouraged me to work hard, stay committed, and strive to improve every day.
One of the most meaningful moments in my athletic journey was committing to playing field hockey at Bucknell University. This achievement represented years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication both on and off the field. It was incredibly rewarding to see my efforts pay off, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love at the collegiate level.
Balancing academics and athletics have not always been easy, but it has taught me valuable time-management and organizational skills. By staying disciplined and prioritizing my responsibilities, I can succeed in the classroom while remaining fully committed to my team.
Through sports, I have learned the true value of teamwork. Collaboration, trust, and support are essential not only for success in athletics but also in everyday life. I am thankful for the many coaches who have guided and challenged me throughout my journey.
Looking ahead, I plan to study Business at Bucknell University while continuing to grow as a player and teammate. I hope to carry the lessons of discipline, teamwork, and resilience that field hockey has taught me into all areas of my life. I would encourage young athletes to believe in themselves, embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and always remember to enjoy the journey.
