This March, we are lucky enough to introduce our neighbors to the Benitez Family! Benito, Avery, Caroline (13), Philip (9), twins Natalie and Afton (6), and their furry feline Powell have lived in Alexander's Village since June 2017 but have been in Lake Highlands since 2012.

Benito grew up in the mid-cities area and graduated from Colleyville Heritage. Avery is originally from Mandeville, LA (right outside of New Orleans). Both Benito and Avery attended Texas Christian University where they were both biology majors. They met through organic chemistry class and became study buddy friends...and the rest is history! Today Benito is a very well-known Orthodontist in the Lake Highlands community, owning Dallas Orthodontics.

The Benitez's like spending a lot of time together as a family. Since Benito was in the band in high school, they love coming to watch the band perform before school starts each summer. They also love participating in community events like Light Up The Highlands, the Lake Highlands Fourth of July Parade, Oktoberfest, school carnivals, football games, and the many elementary school auctions.

The kids like to stay active as well. Philip takes piano at Lake Highlands School of Music. Natalie loves to play soccer. Afton is taking ballet at the Dallas Ballet Center and Caroline is involved in Wyld Life. 

Giving back is important to the Benitez family as well. They are members at the Northwest Bible Church and are actively involved in the PTA at the kids' schools. "Avery is very good at putting her name on sign-up geniuses," jokes Benito. Caroline has learned from her parents and is a member of NJHS at FMJH. 

When we asked the Benitez's what their favorite part about living in the Lake Highlands community they said, "We love the community feel of Lake Highlands. Our absolute favorite part of our neighborhood is when the weather is nice – EVERYONE is outside. We talk regularly about how lucky we are to live in such an amazing place with the neighbors we have."
