The Clucking Ladies:

Eudora, Edwina, Ruby, Gloria

Humans: The Phillips family
Breed: Our ladies are Speckled Sussex, Rhode Island Red, Snow Easter Egger, and Wyandotte breeds.

Tell us about how The Ladies came to be a part of your family.
We have always wanted backyard chickens and the pandemic quickened the decision. Blake and the kids built the coop area and we picked up our new family members at Roosters Hardware, our favorite neighborhood hardware store.

It sounds like it was meant to be! How did y'all come up with the names?
Eudora is named after our favorite author, Eudora Welty. Edwina is named after Blake's great aunt. Ruby and Gloria are just awesome names!

What makes the ladies unique?
Chickens have the ability to mesmerize. We call it "Chicken TV" because we could watch them for hours! They also love to scratch at the ground, perch on our rain barrel, and we love to watch them snuggle up together at night.

Anything else you want to share about the ladies?
Once Edwina escaped our backyard and Blake had to run around the neighborhood to catch her. Of course, our neighbor was having a yard sale and Blake was on full display to the crowd. Do you know how hard it is to catch a chicken?! Seriously though, they are a part of our family! If you've ever considered backyard chickens...DO IT!
