Armarie – Lake Highlands High School Track Star

At just 15 years old, Armarie, a Sophomore at Lake Highlands High School, has already made a name for herself on the track. She began running in the 6th grade with Team Quest, an elite track club based in Allen, Texas. With Team Quest, she quickly proved her talent, competing at the Junior Olympic Championship, and she hasn’t slowed down since.
Last year, Armarie earned a spot on the Lake Highlands varsity track team as a freshman. Her main events are the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay. She also qualified for the finals in the 100m dash, finishing second, and also advanced to regionals with her 4x100 relay team. Her track career highlights already include being a district champion, Junior Olympic qualifier, regional qualifier, and even making it to state in the 4x400 relay in 2021.
Armarie trains year-round, running club track in the summer, indoor track in the winter, and competing with her high school team during the school season. She splits her practices between Allen and Lake Highlands, working alongside her personal trainer and school coaches.
When asked who inspires her, Armarie points to Indyia Mayberry, currently the number one runner in the nation, whom she’s had the chance to run with in club track. She would also love the opportunity to meet Sha’Carri Richardson, the fastest woman in the world right now!
Armarie says one of her favorite parts of the sport is traveling for indoor meets. She’s competed in Birmingham and Arkansas,  and loves indoor track because it’s not as hot as outdoor competitions. Beyond the wins and medals, she says the biggest lessons track has taught her are to stay humble and disciplined.
Her favorite teams to cheer for are Team USA Track and the Dallas Wings. When asked what advice she’d give to younger athletes, Armarie says:
“Only the strong survive. Strive to be the best—hard work always pays off.”
With her speed, drive, and determination, Armarie is proving to be a rising star in the track world, and Lake Highlands has plenty to cheer for in the years ahead.
