Paddington Jamon: Equal Parts Charm, Ham, and Happiness
How did Paddington Jamon come to be a part of your family?
Paddington came from the Apple Puppy Orchard in Oklahoma. We already had 2 dogs - Jovie, a Great Pyr/Lab mix that we rescued and Piper, a Cocker Spaniel. Jovie is 5 years older than Piper and had started to slow down and lost interest in playing so we thought a puppy would become a great playmate for Pip and might reinvigorate Jovie. Also, we needed new living room furniture and my husband and I couldn't find anything we both liked so, getting a new puppy was a great excuse to delay buying furniture! We named him Paddington because he looked like a little Teddy Bear. Jamon is Spanish for ham. From the moment we met him, he had so much personality and was such a ham, we decided that would be the perfect middle name - we thought Paddington Jamon had a nice ring to it.
What is special about Paddington?
He came pre-programmed to fetch, he will eat anything (including lettuce), on occasion, he will accidentally get shut in the pantry but instead of barking or crying to let us know he's stuck, he will just sit and wait patiently for us to find him.
What is Paddington's favorite toy and thing to do?
Paddington's favorite toy is Lambie or whatever toy Piper happens to be playing with at the moment. His favorite thing to do is to go to White Rock Dog Park with his sisters and do the obstacle course.
Any funny stories about Toby?
Over the summer, Paddington was in upstate NY with me while I was caring for my mom. He became friends with the 6-year-old girl who lived next door. Every morning when I took him out to go to the bathroom, he would stand by the fence and bark for her to come out and see him. Paddington also sleeps in bed with us and has decided although he can do the stairs he would rather get a "ride" up or down from Mom or Dad so he will sit at the top or the bottom of the stairs and wait. He gets the zoomies every night around 10:30p and before he lays down, he "digs" a spot in the bed, couch.
