Welcome to Woodrow: Coach Keylon Kincade Takes the Lead
Former NFL player and standout college athlete steps into leadership role with a focus on discipline, teamwork, and building champions.
Woodrow Wilson High School has a new leader at the helm of its athletic program. This past April, the school officially named Keylon Kincade as its new athletic coordinator and head football coach—bringing with him nearly two decades of coaching experience, a passion for student development, and deep Texas roots.
“I am incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to lead the football team and campus athletics at Woodrow Wilson,” said Kincade. “This is an opportunity that comes with tremendous responsibility, and I am fully committed to giving my all to the school, athletic department, and the Woodrow community.”
Coach Kincade joins Woodrow from Chisholm Trail High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, where he served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. Under his leadership, the school’s offense broke several records and gained a reputation for dynamic play and discipline on the field.
Prior to Chisholm Trail, Kincade led Winona High School’s athletic program in East Texas for a decade as athletic director and head football coach, guiding the team to significant milestones and laying a foundation of success and integrity. His early coaching years included impactful roles at Mansfield Timberview and R.L. Paschal High School, where he coached football and track while mentoring young athletes both on and off the field.
A standout athlete himself, Kincade graduated from Troup High School in 2000, earning all-state honors in football and basketball while also competing in track. His athletic achievements continued at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he became one of just five players in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season—joining the ranks of legends like Eric Dickerson and Craig James. He still holds SMU’s records for single-season and single-game rushing attempts and ranks sixth in total career rushing yards.
Kincade’s football journey continued at the professional level with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, including time on the Cowboys' active roster in 2006 and a season with NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions. Beyond the field, he served on SMU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and graduated with a degree in economics.
Throughout his career, Kincade has been recognized not only for athletic success but for the character and leadership he brings to every role.
“Football is about building character, fostering teamwork, and creating a culture of excellence,” he said. “My vision is to develop not just great athletes but great individuals who embody discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship.”
As he begins this new chapter, the Woodrow community is excited to welcome Coach Kincade and support his vision for the future of Wildcat athletics. With his leadership, the program is poised to continue growing both in competition and in the values that define a strong school culture.
Welcome to Woodrow, Coach Kincade—let’s get to work!
