For nearly 15 years, Liz Bracken has dedicated her career to helping students grow not just academically, but as confident, curious, and compassionate individuals. She has taught every grade level from Pre-K through high school, bringing energy and heart into each new chapter of her journey in education. After beginning her career in the Chicago suburbs, where she also earned her Master’s in Education, Liz returned to Dallas in 2010. Now in her fifth year at Lakehill Preparatory School, she teaches middle school English and high school psychology, in addition to coaching middle school cheer.

Lakehill is much more than a workplace for Liz - it’s family. Her husband is also a teacher at the school, and their children are proud Lakehill students. “We’re so grateful to be part of such a welcoming and supportive community,” she says.

Liz describes her teaching style as friendly, hands-on, and a little adventurous. Her classroom is a space where ideas are celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and students feel supported. “I’m not here to overwhelm them,” she explains. “I’m here to support them, cheer them on, and challenge them in ways that leave them proud of their work.” 

Her classes are filled with lively discussion, thoughtful writing, and laughter - lots of it.

She credits two strong role models for inspiring her approach to teaching: her mother, who showed her how deeply educators can impact lives, and her fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Kessler, whose enthusiasm still inspires her today. Outside the classroom, Liz is always on the move, cheering on her kids at games, hiking national parks, enjoying concerts, or playing Mahj with friends. Since moving to East Dallas, she’s loving local favorites like Lochlands, Good Friend, Burger Schmurger, Hello Dumpling, and nostalgic trips to El Fenix.

Wherever she is - school, home, or somewhere in between, Liz Bracken brings joy, connection, and a genuine love of learning to everything she does.
