Hello there, my name is Salmon, and I am a Boxer! The Hatchell family wanted a unique and funny name for their Boxer and their kids came up with the name “Salmon.” It was the first name they tossed out, and it stuck. They like to joke that if they get another dog, they’ll name it “Trout” to keep the theme going. I was adopted by the Hatchell family from DFW Boxer Rescue after their first Boxer, Rizzo, passed away. They knew they wanted another Boxer because we Boxers are the perfect mix of energetic and sweet. We don’t shed, we love to cuddle, and our playful spirits fit perfectly with the Hatchell family.

My family is pretty sure I have secret thumbs because when they’re out, I somehow get into the recycling, grab a milk carton or yogurt container, carry it to their daughter’s room, unscrew the cap, and lick it clean! My family has no idea how I do it, so they assume opposable thumbs is the answer. I’ll never reveal my secrets though, shhh! My family loves my perfect balance of energy and sweetness. I am also incredibly fast and playful, and I’m always down to play a game! However, when it’s time to relax, I am the best snuggle buddy in the house. 

My favorite toys are stuffed animals; I love chewing them until the beady eyes and stuffing pop out. My favorite thing to do is to lay in the Hatchel family’s daughter’s bed and gaze out the window like the neighborhood watch. One fun fact about me is that I know where the Hatchell’s keep my treats. I will plant myself in front of the cabinet, shove my nose into the crack, and start sniffing like a detective on a case with loud, dramatic sniffs until they cave and give me one.

Lastly, I am ridiculously spoiled. I eat Farmers Dog food, which is basically gourmet human food in disguise. When it comes to sleep, I have never known anything but a human bed. I claim my spot right in the middle at the top, like I am royalty, which honestly, I kind of am. But my family loves my mix of high energy and pure sweetness. It makes me impossible not to love.
