Style, Sustainability, and Community Take the Runway

Mercer Island Chamber, in partnership with The Style Collective, hosted its first Sustainable Fashion Show this April. The fashion show brought together guests and vendors for an afternoon filled with bites, mocktails, and inspired shopping both before and after the runway event. Featuring 16 models and 48 looks, the show spotlighted springtime style through the lens of sustainability, with curated finds from local consignment and thrift shops—including Mercer Island’s own beloved thrift store.

Consignment favorites Reprise of Bellevue, Eres Boutique, Odette & Co. of Seattle, and Refugee Artisan Initiative of Seattle showcased fresh seasonal looks while local business owners Maria Gallardo of Mbellish Studio by Maria and Moni Giles of Evolve with Moni kept the energy high throughout the show. Models—many of them well‑known local business owners and community icons—walked the greenery‑lined runway, including Elliot Fauske of Soccer Fun Camp, Herman Forrest of Columbia Bank, Gabrielle Palazzolo of Clever Quill Learning Co., Nicole Bensen of Tentacles and Tea, and more.

Sustainability was woven throughout the experience, from moss flower arrangements to the living runway. Voce, an up‑and‑coming digital fashion platform, also debuted its beta technology on‑site, demonstrating how shoppers can visualize clothing on their own bodies to make more informed choices and help reduce waste. Sustainability isn’t new—but celebrating creative, unconventional ways to choose thoughtfully always keeps it in style.
