The Enchanting Garden of Robert and Ramona Fletcher

Meet Robert and Ramona Fletcher, residents of The Parks at Mill Creek neighborhood since January 2015. Their decision to move here was driven by the allure of a home situated right across from a picturesque park, complete with access to walking and biking trails. The Fletchers were drawn to their home's well-designed floor plan and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the community.

As for their yard, it holds special significance. The Shade Garden, in particular, offers a retreat reminiscent of a deep forest with lush plantings. The Fletchers' yard is also sprinkled with unique touches like a rock-washing area, which has delighted their guests and sparked laughter.

Reflecting on the yard's transformation, the Fletchers shared that they made substantial changes upon moving in. The original plantings and lawn were replaced due to poor soil and struggling plants. Their efforts culminated in an entirely reimagined landscape, complete with carefully chosen vegetation, garden lighting, and a comprehensive irrigation system.

Intriguingly, Robert takes pride in the garden's infrastructure design and implementation, while Ramona enjoys the hands-on work of tending to the plants. Both are enthusiastic about their upcoming membership in the Mill Creek Garden Club, where they hope to deepen their knowledge of plant care and selection.

Beyond their garden, the Fletchers have rich life stories to share. Robert, a former executive of Utility Planning Solutions, retired in 2015. Meanwhile, Ramona sold her company, American Properties NW Inc., and retired back in 1995. Together, they have a vibrant family, including five children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The couple's shared interests span a variety of outdoor activities, from traveling to biking and skiing. They maintain a regular bridge-playing schedule with close friends and hold educational backgrounds from esteemed institutions – Robert earned his doctorate from the University of Washington, while Ramona graduated from Marysville High School in 1956. Ramona also still takes on the role of preserving her class records.
