Lacrosse in Mill Creek: Meet the Seawolves of Everett Lacrosse Club

“This is so fast and fun to watch! I wish lacrosse was around when I was a kid.”

We at Everett Lacrosse Club hear this all the time from parents on the sidelines getting their
first taste of this sport that showcases the best of athleticism, heart, quickness, strategy, and
skill. Lacrosse is currently one of the fastest-growing sports in the US—but also the oldest team
sport in North America. According to USA Lacrosse, it originated among various Native
American communities and traditional games were major events that could last for days. The
modern game most resembles that played among the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois people, who
also refer to lacrosse as the Creator's Game.

Modern lacrosse is for girls and boys. Girls lacrosse features faster passing and the boys game
allows more contact. If you can watch high school or college girls or boys games, you will see
how both are incredibly fast-paced, athletic, and skilled styles of play.

Who is Everett Lacrosse Club?

Everett Lacrosse Club is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that aims to use lacrosse to
teach youth about the core values of sportsmanship, leadership, courage, dedication, and
passion in a safe, respectful, and fun environment. We also value just having fun. Fun is the #1
reason players participate in sports. If it’s not fun, kids don’t want to play.

Everett Lacrosse Club was formed in 2010 and now provides K-8 youth lacrosse, as well as high school lacrosse programs. We are called Everett Lacrosse Club because we pull players from all over the Everett School District. Our goal is to continue to grow lacrosse enough to create separate, sustainable clubs for Jackson, Cascade, and Everett High Schools, and the youth programs that feed into them.

Seawolves in the Community

This spring, we pioneered bringing lacrosse into the elementary schools, hosting a lacrosse unit
during PE for every single elementary school class at Mill Creek Elementary. This success put us in touch with Everett Public Schools and we are working to bring lacrosse units to schools
throughout the entire district in 2024!
