Geocaching!
The City of Mill Creek has been participating in and managing its own Geocache program since 2018. You can explore all that Mill Creek has to offer by searching and finding Geocaches that have been strategically placed in fun and exciting areas for the whole family! Back in 2018, the City had 5 caches, which has now expanded to over 21 caches that are located in all of our City Parks and trails. Since inception, our caches have been found and logged over 4,600 times!
What is geocaching?
It’s the world’s largest high-tech treasure hunt and a fun way to explore our community! Geocaching is fun for all ages and great for families, friends, and organizations. With a smartphone and a bit of curiosity, you can explore more than 100 caches in the Mill Creek area. By searching and finding these caches, you'll learn more about our community and opportunities available for year-round recreation and more.
Marketing & Communications Program Manager, Scott Harder, started with the city in 2021 and brought his Geocaching skills that he acquired when working at Puget Sound Energy. One of his many jobs at PSE was managing over 50 caches that were located across Puget Sound.
“Geocaches are not only fun for kids and families but also informative and informational. At PSE they were used as an outreach tool to provide information about the region, projects, or infrastructure. We are accomplishing the same thing here in Mill Creek as we witness increased awareness. We often see comments from people not knowing about a park, landmark, or feature within our city.”
