Introducing Arohan Basak
Greet Mill Creek's newest Junior Writer!
What’s your favorite class at school?
The subject I enjoy most in school is History. Learning about the struggles our ancestors faced and overcame intrigues me, as it gives me hope that any problems I am facing can be resolved as well.
What do you love most about writing?
My favorite aspect of writing is when it seems like you have an infinite number of words and ideas at your fingertips, all waiting to become interwoven with the rest of the page.
What kinds of things do you like to write about?
I love writing anything fictional, as I can let my imagination soar without the limits of logic and physics. In fiction writing, the author's word is the story's command. As for nonfiction, biographies are my preference. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and all deserve to be acknowledged.
Has someone inspired you to be a writer or encouraged you in your writing?
My English teachers in middle school have really sparked my interest in writing, as every year they expand my knowledge, leading me to make huge progress in my skill and style. However, no teacher has affected me as much as my 3rd grade teacher. He sent me on the path of writing, pushing me to do my best in everything I wrote, and I haven't strayed from that path since.
Do you have a favorite author, book, poem, or story?
The series of novels titled The Edge Chronicles by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell have always been my favorite. The gripping story along with the complex characters create a masterpiece that all should read, especially if you are struggling to find inspiration to read like I was when I first picked it up.
Why are you excited to be a writer for Greet Mill Creek?
I want to write for Greet Mill Creek as I hope to gain experience with writing on a larger scale than the classroom. I also want to see how my writing is received by the public, and how it can be changed to make it more successful.
