The Lamorinda Look

Moraga is a beautiful corner of the world, and
the inspiration behind many Wraith Design
projects. The rolling hills and natural landscapes
of Lamorinda inform both the palette and the
perspective, creating spaces that feel deeply
connected to their surroundings.
I call it 'The Lamorinda Look' - a design approach
that is neither Marin coastal nor Berkeley
bungalow, but something entirely its own. It
reflects the relaxed sophistication and quiet
beauty unique to this region.

At its core, The Lamorinda Look is about creating an effortless indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Spaces are designed to
feel open, natural, and livable, with a cohesive flow that supports how people truly live. The palette is drawn
directly from the landscape and a refined mix of warm neutrals, softened greens, and sun-washed golds - inspired by
the hills, oak trees, and Northern California light.
This kitchen remodel of a 1960s Moraga ranch home is a clear expression of that vision. The design honors the
home’s original scale and approachable character while elevating it for modern living.
Inspired by the hills in late spring, the material palette blends warm wood tones, muted earth hues, and subtle
handcrafted textures. The result is a space that feels timeless and grounded, while thoughtful upgrades improve
functionality and enhance everyday life.
The Lamorinda Look is about more than aesthetics, it’s about creating homes that feel authentic, intentional, and
effortlessly livable.
