Bryn Zimmerman is not someone who likes to sit still. This inspiring Miramonte HS student has spent nine years dancing at CAPA, where she studies ballet, tap and jazz. Each discipline presents a different challenge. Ballet requires hours of technique and precision, while tap and jazz call for plenty of energy.

Pointe work has tested her in an entirely different way. Finding the right shoes can be difficult, and the foot pain is real, but Bryn has learned that dancers adjust with time, patience and a proper fit.

Dance is only one part of her very full schedule. Bryn balances six classes, including three AP courses, with golf, dance and her role as a rally leader at Miramonte. She helps organize pep rallies and leads cheers at sporting events, bringing school spirit and enthusiasm to the campus.

Her athletic interests extend well beyond the dance studio and golf course. Bryn grew up skiing competitively on race teams at Northstar and Squaw Valley. She also enjoys camping, hiking and just about any opportunity to spend time outdoors.

One of her most memorable adventures took her much farther from home. While volunteering for Intl Vision Volunteers at an eye clinic in Zambia, Bryn helped administer eye charts and pressure scans and assisted with procedures that included cataract surgery and eyelid reconstruction. The experience gave her the opportunity to work directly with patients and see the impact of the care being provided.

Closer to home, Bryn and her family volunteer with Grateful Gatherings, another organization where she can see the immediate difference their work makes. In her free time, she also enjoys sewing and thrifting, pursuits that tap into her creative side.

As she looks toward college, Bryn is ready for something new. After spending most of her life in Orinda, she hopes to attend school out of state, possibly in Washington, the Midwest or the South.

Whether she is wearing pointe shoes, golf spikes, ski boots or hiking shoes, Bryn brings the same adventurous spirit to everything she does. For her, working hard and enjoying the experience are equally important!
