Grace Mind Care: A Holistic Approach to Mental Health

In June 2024, Grace Mind Care opened its doors with a mission that goes far beyond conventional psychiatric care. Founded by Kevin Rodas and Lisa Choe, both military nurses with a deep interest in mental health and psych care, Grace Mind Care is the culmination of years of experience, research, and intentional planning.

A Shared Vision Rooted in Service
Kevin and Lisa’s journey began in California, where they worked in different sectors of the healthcare field—Kevin in hospital systems and Lisa in the Veterans Affairs (VA) environment. Their paths eventually converged, both personally and professionally, as they discovered a shared passion for improving mental health services, particularly through innovative treatments like ketamine-assisted therapy, which they saw deliver incredible results within military populations.
After establishing their own successful psychiatric practices, they reconnected and decided to merge their talents. The idea was simple: combine their expertise and implement cutting-edge treatments in a supportive, integrated setting.
Building Something Bigger
What followed were months of intentional conversations. Kevin and Lisa didn’t just want to open a clinic—they wanted to create a comprehensive, holistic mental health hub. Their vision was to treat the whole person, including mental, physical, emotional, social, sexual, and financial wellness. They saw mental health through a wide lens, considering how addictions—like gambling or shopping—also played a role in well-being.
After extensive research into the Pacific Northwest, they chose to open Grace Mind Care on Mercer Island, offering both a central location and a peaceful setting conducive to healing.
Cutting-Edge and Compassionate Care
Grace Mind Care is verified on Psychology Today and accepts both self-referrals and physician referrals. They accept all major commercial insurance (excluding Apple Health) and offer both in-person and telehealth services.
What truly sets Grace Mind Care apart is the comprehensive intake process. A client might present with major depressive disorder (MDD), but rather than simply prescribing medication, the team looks deeper:
  • Psychiatric evaluation

  • Comprehensive lab work

  • Genetic testing (GeneSight)

  • In-house vitamin infusions

This approach allows for tailored treatment plans. For example, a vitamin D deficiency might be contributing to depressive symptoms. Or, gene testing might reveal the best psychiatric medication based on how an individual metabolizes certain drugs.
Advanced Treatments and Long-Term Support
Grace Mind Care offers psychiatric medication management, talk therapy, and infusion services. They specialize in complex cases including ADHD, OCD, PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and treatment-resistant depression.
They are one of the few clinics to offer Spravato (esketamine nasal spray) and IV ketamine therapy—approved for clients who have tried at least two antidepressants without success.
Importantly, no medications are prescribed at the first appointment. The team takes a holistic and methodical approach, focusing on long-term wellness over quick fixes.
Inclusive and Ongoing Care
Grace Mind Care serves teens, adults, and families. From new moms to veterans, students to CEOs, they believe that mental health is a journey, and they’re committed to walking alongside clients every step of the way—from the first appointment to ongoing care.
Whether someone is struggling with daily anxiety that makes it hard to go to school or dealing with medication interactions related to epilepsy, Grace Mind Care offers personalized, evidence-based support.
As Kevin and Lisa put it: “We don’t just prescribe—we partner with you.”
