Where May Shows Off

Fresh blooms, new calves, and the kind of days you wish you could bottle up

May always feels like a reward.
After the muddy boots and unpredictable spring days, everything starts to settle into something a little softer, a little brighter. The pastures fill in, the calves are on their feet, and there’s a rhythm again, early mornings, long evenings, and that golden light that seems to stretch just a little further each day.
This time of year brings some of my favorite sights: spring calves finding their legs, brandings that turn into full days of hard work and good company, and those roadside sunflowers that show up like a quiet reminder to slow down and take it all in. It’s the kind of beauty that doesn’t ask for attention but deserves it.
And just as the land comes alive, so does our community.
May means swimming pools opening up, Jr. rodeos kicking off, sticky hands from snowcones, and calendars filling with the good kind of busy. The kind made up of family, friends, and moments you don’t realize you’ll miss until they’ve passed.
Inside this issue, don’t miss our Precious Pet feature, Jack, a heartwarming story generously shared by Jennifer Stasio. We’re also excited to share this month’s Love Oakdale home reveal, along with a full lineup of events happening around town. May truly is packed with experiences and people to celebrate.
As always, a heartfelt thank you to our advertising partners—your support makes this publication possible and keeps our community connected in such a meaningful way.
And if you’re looking to get more involved, we’d love to have you join us at our next Oakdale Insiders meeting—a chance to connect with fellow residents, share feedback, and be part of shaping the magazine.
Here’s to May—full of growth, grit, and a whole lot of beauty. Stay a little longer, take the long way home, and don’t forget to enjoy the view… especially if there are sunflowers along the road.
