Dancing into the Season
Local Talent Shines in The Nutcracker
Each winter, the stage at the Gallo Center for the Arts transforms into a world of music and magic, and this year, a few young dancers from Ripon are part of the enchantment. Several local girls are performing in The Nutcracker with Central West Ballet, bringing to life one of the season’s most beloved traditions.
These girls have dedicated countless hours to rehearsals and preparation. Their excitement and love for dance reflect the true spirit of the holidays.
“I am excited because I can actually perform and be in front of a lot of people,” shared Abigale, age 10, a fifth grader at Weston Elementary. “I like to feel the Christmas spirit and share the magical season with others.”
Abigale began dancing at the age of three at Holly Rochelle Dance Company in Manteca and later continued ballet with Shelly Waters. She is now a soldier in the Central West Ballet’s Nutcracker and says her teacher “knows what he is doing because he has been teaching this dance for a long time.” She admits to feeling “a bit anxious but also excited and happy” before stepping on stage.
These talented young dancers will take part in scenes filled with color, choreography, and classic holiday music. Their families are proud to see Ripon talent represented in such a renowned regional production.
While new costumes remain a surprise until opening night, we’re sharing a few photos from last year’s Nutcracker performance to celebrate the dedication and joy these dancers bring to the stage.
