BaBari Ganago: Marching to Her Own Beat
For Elkins High School freshman BaBari Ganago, marching band has become much more than an extracurricular activity; it’s helped bring back the active, energetic part of life she missed most.
As a child, BaBari stayed constantly on the move through gymnastics, swimming, piano, and dance. After becoming sick and having to step away from many physical activities, she missed the excitement and connection those experiences brought her.
That changed when she joined the marching band at Elkins High School. “Marching band gave her back that part of her life,” her family shared. Now she is a proud member of both the Marching Band and Concert Band.
BaBari has already made unforgettable memories during her freshman year. One of her favorite moments came during a competition at Channelview when the Elkins band advanced to the finals and ultimately took first place. “Hearing school after school called and ours still not announced was so exciting,” BaBari recalled. “When they finally called Elkins for first place, my friends and I went crazy celebrating.”
Beyond music, BaBari is known for her creativity, curiosity, and big dreams for the future. After high school, she hopes to attend college, study culinary arts, open her own bakery, and someday travel the world. She also admires Ed's carefree personality from Good Burger, saying she loves how he stays positive no matter what life throws at him, a mindset that seems to reflect BaBari’s own outlook as well.
With her determination, joyful spirit, and growing confidence, there’s no doubt BaBari is just getting started.
