“I wanted to make a difference in the community and people’s lives,” says Financial Advisor Kristine Hertin with Edward Jones. Helping others with their finances is what she does best.  

Kristine is also proud to be local. A Bakersfield native, Kristine Hertin has always considered this city her home. “I’ve been in Bakersfield since I was five years old,” she shares. “My parents moved here from the San Diego area when I was younger, and I grew up here.” She attended Highland High School before continuing her education at Bakersfield College and later Cal State Bakersfield. “I live and breathe Bakersfield when it comes to education,” she adds with a smile. 

 

Kristine’s professional journey began in banking and insurance, including a tenure at State Farm corporate. When the company relocated out of California, she faced a turning point. “I asked myself, ‘What do I really want to do with my life?’ I wanted something where my passion fed my paycheck,” she explains. “I wanted a career I truly enjoyed and one that allowed me to make a meaningful impact.” 

 

Her passion for financial education stems from her upbringing. “I haven’t always had the best examples when it comes to money management,” she admits. “But my grandparents taught me invaluable lessons about finances—how to manage money and live within my means.” She still cherishes stock certificates gifted by her grandparents, which now hang in her office as a reminder of their wisdom. “That passion for financial education is what led me to become a financial advisor,” she says. “I want to help people make better financial decisions every day.” 

For the past six years, Kristine has been a trusted financial advisor with Edward Jones, operating out of the Seven Oaks Business Park. “Ultimately, I help individuals in my community make informed financial decisions,” she says. “Whether it’s retirement planning, saving for a child’s education, or general financial planning, it’s rewarding to see people leave my office feeling empowered and confident.” 

 

At Edward Jones, Kristine works alongside her dedicated office manager, Brianne. “She’s my right hand,” Kristine says. “She keeps the office running like a well-oiled machine and maintains strong client relationships. She’s truly my partner in this business.” 

 

Kristine and her husband, Erik, have been together for 18 years, having met right out of high school. Proud DINKs (Dual Income, No Kids), they enjoy the freedom to travel and explore new experiences. Recently, Kristine and Erik traveled to Ireland and Anguilla, embracing their love of adventure.  

 

“We do what we want, and we sleep as late as we want,” she jokes. Their family includes two beloved dogs—a Basset Hound and a Beagle—as well as a cat. “Technically, we have fur babies,” she laughs. 

 

In her free time, Kristine enjoys “long walks in Costco,” watching reruns of The Office, and reading both for pleasure and professional development. “I’m a lifelong learner, constantly keeping up with the latest investment trends,” she says. Her next goal? Pursuing a master’s degree in the next couple of years. 

 

Beyond her professional endeavors, Kristine is actively involved in the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce and the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club, furthering her commitment to the community.
