Arctic Healing Cryo

For nearly a decade, Arctic Healing Cryo has been a trusted destination for Houstonians seeking holistic, science-backed wellness. Founded in 2017 by health and wellness expert Larissa Steinruck, Arctic offers a personalized, boutique approach to recovery, providing clients with advanced therapies that reduce inflammation, improve energy, accelerate healing, and support long-term vitality.

Larissa’s path to cryotherapy began long before she opened her doors. With nearly 20 years in the health and wellness industry as a fitness trainer and nutritionist, her life revolved around discipline, movement, and helping clients reach their peak performance. But everything changed when she suffered a severe lower back injury while training for a fitness competition. Traditional treatments provided only short-term relief, and Larissa knew she needed a different approach.

A friend recommended cryotherapy—still a new concept at the time—and one session changed everything. The relief was immediate, and after a month of consistent treatments, her chronic back pain disappeared. The added benefit was that she slept better, her mood improved, and her energy soared. It was a turning point that ignited her passion for cold therapy’s potential.

Larissa’s connection to cold exposure runs even deeper. Growing up in Siberia, Russia, she often walked barefoot in the snow and joined neighborhood cold plunges. She rarely got sick, and when her younger sister became chronically ill and began copying these rituals, her health improved, too. Those childhood experiences shaped Larissa’s lifelong belief in the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself when given the right environment.

Arctic Healing Cryo stands apart for its intentional approach and Larissa’s hands-on leadership. The studio offers a curated selection of non-invasive, research-supported therapies, including:
  • Whole Body Cryotherapy
  • Localized Cryo & CryoFacials
  • Cryoskin® Body Contouring (Slimming, Toning, and CryoFacials)
  • NormaTec Compression Therapy
  • NovoTHOR® Red Light Therapy
Every treatment plan is customized, and clients receive personal attention from Larissa. "I’m hands-on in the day-to-day operations, which means clients receive attention from someone who understands both the science behind our therapies and the mindset required for true lifestyle change," she shared. This commitment has earned Arctic Healing Cryo the honor of Best Cryotherapy Center in 2024.

Thought leaders like Dr. Joe Dispenza and Tony Robbins strongly influence Larissa’s philosophy. While Arctic is not a mindfulness studio, Larissa intentionally brings awareness, connection, and compassion into the client experience. The result is a warm, boutique environment where clients feel known, supported, and empowered, an atmosphere rarely found in high-volume wellness centers.

Larissa has seen firsthand how these therapies transform lives. “Your body is built to heal itself,” she says. “Modern life often gets in the way, but when we support the body instead of suppressing its signals, we create space for real healing to happen.”

Her guidance for residents is simple: stay open-minded. “There are powerful, non-invasive ways to reduce pain, increase energy, and support longevity. Prevention is easier than treatment, and your daily choices determine the quality of life you get to enjoy.”

Outside of the studio, Larissa enjoys working out, practicing yoga, skiing, rollerblading, and biking, and spends as much time as possible outdoors, especially hiking in nature. She is also drawn to the arts, from attending the Houston Symphony to enjoying live performances, books, and documentaries. A lifelong learner, Larissa values podcasts, meditation, and mindfulness, and makes learning something new each day a priority. When she’s ready to relax, she enjoys playing board games with friends and family. Larissa is also the proud mother of one son, Anthony. He is 24 years old, lives in Chicago, graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, and works as a consultant with Oliver Wyman.
