Local Roots, Real People, Trusted Guidance
Meet the team at Atlantic Pension.
When it comes to planning for retirement, the team you choose matters. At Atlantic Pension, the difference is evident from the moment you call. Real people answer the phone, your questions are heard, and you’re treated like more than just a number. That personal touch is what’s made Atlantic Pension a trusted name in retirement plan administration—and a valued preferred partner of Greet Unionville Chadds Ford Magazine.
Owned and operated by Cecilee Young and Julie Altig, Atlantic Pension isn’t your average third-party retirement plan administrator. It's a woman-owned and founded, community-focused firm that prides itself on providing tailored support and expert consulting without outsourcing a single service. With a dedicated team of twenty-one professionals, they support more than seven hundred client businesses and 26,000 individual plan participants—each one treated with care, attention, and respect.
Cecilee and Julie’s journey to business ownership is as authentic as the company they now lead. Both began as employees at Atlantic Pension and took over the firm in 2017. Cecilee, who grew up in Haddonfield and Cherry Hill, NJ, has a background in literature and once studied Shakespeare in England. She ran track in her younger years, specializing in the 400-meter sprint, and later met her husband while working at the same restaurant together.
Julie, originally from Northern California, moved to the area about seventeen years ago. Academically driven and passionate about writing, she studied International Relations. She studied abroad as a Rotary exchange student in Milan. That experience gave her a global perspective and a deep appreciation for shared humanity.
As entrepreneurs, Cecilee and Julie have found strength not just in their leadership but in their partnership. Owning a business has brought them closer, transforming their working relationship into a powerful support system. Together, they've upheld the values established by the founders back in 1992, ensuring that Atlantic Pension remains rooted in trust, service, and local employment.
What sets Atlantic Pension apart is its hands-on, people-first approach. Rather than relying on automation or impersonal systems, the team provides thoughtful guidance, direct communication, and clear, easy-to-understand answers. They manage all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps 401(k)s and retirement plans compliant and running smoothly, including plan documents, regulatory updates, and ongoing consultation. Whether a business is launching its first retirement plan or needs support managing an existing one, Atlantic Pension makes the process less overwhelming and more accessible.
They also take tremendous pride in being an employer. Keeping people employed locally means they are supporting local families, funding kids’ soccer seasons, and helping neighbors pay their bills. Even though their team works remotely, the Atlantic Pension culture remains tight-knit, with many long-tenured employees.
What’s most fulfilling? For Julie and Cecilee, it’s knowing their work helps people retire with confidence. That sense of security—knowing you’ll have enough when the time comes—is a powerful gift, and they’re proud to play a role in making that possible.
Their involvement doesn’t stop at retirement plans. Atlantic Pension is actively involved in the community, supporting organizations such as the Kennett Food Cupboard and other local causes. They also serve as a resource for small business owners, financial advisors, and entrepreneurs seeking to attract and retain employees or to establish their own solo 401(k) plans.
Outside the office, Cecilee enjoys time with her Dobermans. She and her husband, a local police officer, have three children, ages twenty-two, nineteen, and fifteen. Julie loves life in her historic home, rehabbing it piece by piece, and travels regionally in her RV with her husband, two children, and two Border Collies.
Both Cecilee and Julie are proud to lead a company that makes a meaningful difference. Their connection with Greet Unionville Chadds Ford Magazine reflects their belief in supporting local businesses and celebrating the community they call home. As Atlantic Pension continues to grow, it remains grounded in what matters most: real people, real service, and a real commitment to helping others succeed. They make retirement easy by taking the guesswork out of planning and providing support every step of the way.
