Hanna Powers

Hanna on set for FOX31 News

Hanna Powers may be new to Wash Park, but she has already become a familiar and welcoming presence in the neighborhood. She moved to the area last spring after her career in TV news brought her to Denver, marking her first time living off the East Coast. Originally from Washington, D.C., and having spent the last decade in South Carolina, Hanna arrived without nearby family, but quickly found that Wash Park’s warmth and friendliness made the transition feel easy and natural.
Hanna’s household is small but full of personality. It includes just herself, 28, and her rescue dog, Ernie, a shaggy gray mystery-breed with an old-soul demeanor and unwavering loyalty. Ernie is rarely far from her side, whether they are exploring the neighborhood, traveling, or sitting on the front porch people-watching, one of his favorite pastimes.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Hanna majored in broadcast journalism and was a four-year, lettered Division I equestrian, balancing academics, athletics, and sorority life as a proud Gamecock. Today, she works as a TV news reporter for FOX31, where she covers nightly news with a focus on hyper-local, community-driven stories. One of her favorite aspects of the job is seeing so much of Colorado and meeting people from all walks of life. Outside the newsroom, Hanna keeps up her riding skills at the Denver Equestrian Center in Littleton.
At home, Hanna has a deep appreciation for her charming bungalow, which is over 100 years old and still filled with original details. She loves imagining the stories and generations that lived there before her and feels honored to be part of its next chapter. Gardening, cooking, and caring for her home are some of her favorite ways to unwind.
As a Wash Park resident, Hanna frequently attends neighborhood events and casual gatherings, staying connected to what’s happening locally. Volunteering is important to her, and she hopes to help organize dog adoption events, community initiatives, and other neighborhood activities that bring people together. She also enjoys supporting walkable local businesses like Candlelight Tavern, Perdida, and Florence, appreciating both the convenience and the opportunity to meet neighbors along the way.
For Hanna, the appeal of Wash Park goes beyond its charming homes and green spaces—it’s the people, the local businesses, and the opportunities to be an active, contributing member of the neighborhood. With Ernie by her side, she enjoys exploring, connecting, and giving back, fully embracing all that Wash Park has to offer.
