Gadget
Since arriving in West Wash Park in June 2023, one resident has made a particularly big impression: Gadget, a sweet, spirited 2-year-old mutt with a lot of personality packed into a small frame.
A mix of dachshund, pekingese, rat terrier, chihuahua, and miniature poodle, Gadget was adopted as an 8-week-old rescue from Brighter Days Dog Rescue. With long fur, tiny paws, and bright eyes, he won hearts instantly. Since then, he has become a familiar and friendly presence around the neighborhood.
True to his name, Gadget has overcome his own set of challenges. As he grew, his front legs began turning outward, eventually requiring two corrective osteotomy surgeries. After months of recovery, ramps, and care from the team at Spry Companions, Gadget is now thriving. He runs, plays, and keeps up with ease, showing no signs of slowing down.
Funny, quirky, and endlessly affectionate, Gadget loves backyard agility practice, digging through leaf piles, and proudly burying his “special” bones. He’s known for his impressive “sock” and “shoe” shake trick and frequent visits to Wash Perk’s treat window. Whether zooming through snow or dressing up as Toto for Halloween, Gadget brings joy wherever he goes—and fits right in as a beloved West Wash Park pup.
