Honoring Excellence!
Sacred Heart’s Rosemarie Engman Wins Above & Beyond Teaching Award!

Greet West Bellevue is proud to continue the Above and Beyond Teaching Award for its fourth year in a row! Inspired by the countless teachers who demonstrated unwavering dedication to their students during the pandemic, this award was created to honor educators who go above and beyond to support their students' growth and success.
We are thrilled to partner with local business owners Steven and Fredda Goldfarb of Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler to sponsor this award. The Goldfarbs believe that investing in education is one of the most impactful ways to strengthen the community. They generously contribute a $500 gift, and we at Greet West Bellevue match that contribution, awarding a total of $1,000 to the winning teacher.
“With immense pride and excitement, Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler is partnering with Greet West Bellevue to champion this incredible award. Speaking personally, both Fredda and I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of exceptional educators. We deeply understand their lasting impact, and Goldfarb Jewelers is thrilled to support these vital members of our Bellevue community," says Steven Goldfarb of Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler.
Each year West Bellevue residents nominate teachers from the local schools who create a safe, fun, and inspiring learning environment. Among the many outstanding educators nominated this year, one teacher truly stood out as going Above and Beyond: Congratulations to Sacred Heart School’s Rosemarie Engman!
Mrs. Engman has been an integral part of Sacred Heart School for 38 years, impacting countless students in roles such as 1st grade teacher, 4th grade teacher, Reading Specialist, and Middle School Language Arts instructor. Currently, she leads the Academic Resource Class (ARC) program, which provides students with essential executive skills, promotes student advocacy, and builds confidence in their academic growth. Thanks to Mrs. Engman’s vision and dedication, this program has empowered students who previously struggled with organization and schoolwork to achieve remarkable success in middle school.
She also spearheads the Leadership Executive Academic Development (LEAD) program for 5th graders, equipping students with effective homework management strategies. Her passion for helping students reach their potential shines through in her thoughtful approach. Parents have frequently praised Mrs. Engman for her ability to make each student feel seen and valued. Whether she’s sending a congratulatory email for a small achievement or gently encouraging a student to push themselves further, Mrs. Engman’s personal touch leaves a lasting impact.
“Her enthusiasm is contagious!” shared one parent. “Her love of learning is being instilled in our children. We know our children are better students because of Mrs. Engman.”
Sacred Heart School Principal David Burroughs has witnessed firsthand the transformative effect Mrs. Engman has had on her students. “Over the years, I have seen students enter the ARC program struggling with schoolwork and frequently battling with their parents over assignments. Through Mrs. Engman’s guidance, those same students leave as confident, capable, and organized self-advocates,” he shares.
Not only is Mrs. Engman an exceptional teacher, but she is also a dedicated mentor to her colleagues. When Sacred Heart surveyed their staff, her peers had glowing praise for her leadership, positivity, and compassion.
“Her positive attitude and work ethic inspire me to be a better teacher every day. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to work with her at SHS,” one teacher remarked.
“Rosemarie inspires me daily through her passion and dedication for her students and colleagues. She is a constant ray of sunshine and brightens every room she enters!” said another.
“Rosemarie demonstrates strength, positivity, and endurance. She is a source of light in her community and is always looking for ways to lift others up. She exemplifies girl power!” another teacher added.
In addition to her impressive teaching career, Mrs. Engman is a certified reading specialist, executive skills trainer, Michael Gurian Certified Trainer, Mental Health Trainer, and Certified Soccer Coach. She also serves as Chair of the Eastside Diversified Learners Committee and is a member of the Seattle Archdiocese Diversified Learners Executive Committee.
Outside of teaching, Mrs. Engman leads an active and fulfilling life. She played soccer at Western Washington University and continues to enjoy soccer, running, hiking, and working out. She also loves traveling, fishing, theater, gardening, cooking, reading, and relaxing with a great cup of coffee. As the youngest of eight children and a proud member of the McKinnon clan, her 90% Scottish heritage is a point of pride.
Please join us in congratulating and thanking Mrs. Rosemarie Engman for her incredible dedication to her students, her school, and her community. She truly embodies what it means to go Above and Beyond!
