Publisher's Note
Welcome to the first issue of Greet Windham. A magazine created by this community, for this community.
In an age where we're more digitally connected than ever, there's an ironic truth: we often know more about strangers online than we do about the people living three doors down. We scroll through endless content from around the world while the most meaningful stories, the ones happening right here in Windham, go untold.
That changes today. You're holding more than just pages of stories and photos. This is an invitation: to reclaim the lost art of knowing your neighbors, to celebrate local moments, and to strengthen the threads that bind us together. Greet Windham isn't just another magazine; it's a monthly reminder of why this town is home, and why the people here matter most.
For over 20 years, I worked in magazine publishing, telling stories and connecting communities through the printed page. Then I became a mom, and my focus shifted entirely to raising two daughters here in southern New Hampshire and discovering firsthand what it means to be part of a truly special community.
Those years of watching my girls grow up here, of school events and neighborhood gatherings, of chance encounters at the grocery store and friendships formed on the sidelines. They taught me something profound: community isn't just where you live; it's how you live together. And that sense of connection, that feeling of knowing your neighbors and being known by them, is something worth celebrating and nurturing.
That realization led me to bring my two worlds together. Eight years ago, I launched my first community magazine in Manchester's North End, and six years ago, I brought that same vision to Bedford with Greet Bedford. With each publication, I've discovered the magic that happens when residents tell their own stories. Neighbors who'd live on the same street for years finally meet through a shared article. Local heroes get the recognition they deserve. Families create lasting memories by contributing their traditions and photos.
Now, my team and I are thrilled to bring that same spirit to Windham with Greet Windham. This magazine exists to celebrate you and the incredible community you've built here. In each issue, you'll find personal stories and photos featuring your neighbors and friends, highlights of local events, profiles of the reputable businesses that support the community, and the everyday moments that make life here extraordinary. Whether it's a neighbor's travel adventure, a local student's achievement, a beloved pet's antics, or a family tradition worth sharing. This is where those stories come to life.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our founding business sponsors. Because of their support, this magazine arrives at your door free of charge every month. These aren't just advertisers; they're local partners who care about this community and are committed to serving you with excellence and integrity. We've personally met with each one, and we're proud to introduce them to you.
But here's what I know from experience: this magazine will only be as vibrant as the community that creates it. We need your stories, your photos, your voice. Tell us about the neighbor doing something remarkable, the local cause worth celebrating, or the moment that made you grateful to live here. This publication thrives on your engagement, and together, we'll create something that truly reflects the heartbeat of Windham. Lastly, if you use a business you'd recommend to the 5100 homeowners in the town, please introduce us to them. We are always looking for reputable businesses for the town, and there is no better recommendation than your word of mouth.
Thank you for welcoming Greet Windham and us into your community. Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.
