Charley: The Couch King With a Heart of Gold
How did Charley come to be a part of your family? It's our favorite Charley story to tell! One lazy Sunday morning, we had the TV on in the background and our mom looked up and saw a news segment for pet adoptions from Operation Kindness. Charley sat on the news anchor desk happily licking the faces of the two reporters. They absolutely loved him! When mom saw him, she shouted, "That's our dog!". She kept saying, "I just know he's ours!" Dad said, "I didn't even know we were looking for a dog!" We call him Charley, Charles, CharChar, Yoda -- because of his enormous ears, and pillow pet because all he cares about is being comfy on whatever soft pillow or blanket he finds.
What is special about Charley?
He's the most untrained emotional support dog. Any time someone is sad, tells a sad story or has any sort of reaction to a movie scene, Charley senses your emotion and immediately rushes over to comfort you. He deeply feels what you feel. However, we've had him for 8 years and for the first 6, he didn't know the commands to sit or stay, and still can't play fetch or walk on a leash!
What is Charley's favorite things to do?
He always finds a lap to sit on. He loves tucking in everyone at night going from room to room. He also loves chasing squirrels and running zoomies through the whole house.
Any funny stories about Charley?
Charley goes absolutely bonkers over microwave popcorn!! Any movie night you can find him begging for a share of Weston, Travis or Lexie's popcorn!
Over the years, he has jumped on the trampoline, climbed into our fort, played tea party, sat at family games nights, in piles of legos, under piano lessons or work calls, kayaked and swam in the pool. He's always up for a quick trip to Andy’s, a long road trip or just sitting at your feet - anything to be where we are. He's a steady constant in a crazy busy, changing world and ever chaos of growing kids. We love him like crazy!
