Lester the Loving Basset Hound
Hello there! My name is Lester, and I am an adorable Basset Hound. My owners, the Petersons, adopted me in 2016 immediately after they moved from Nashville to Dallas. Clifton Peterson grew up with a Basset Hound and always wanted to have another one. His Basset Hound that he had growing up was named “Chester,” so he thought the name “Lester” was both a nice homage and well-suited for a droopy Basset Hound like me.
Something about me is that I have an incredibly powerful nose and can sniff out food on the ground from a block away (it’s my superpower). I also am the best at putting a smile on strangers’ faces when they see me walking down the street. I am very sweet, love to cuddle on the bed or couch, and will occasionally howl when excited.
My favorite thing to do is go on walks around Lakewood Heights because I get to take in new scents and be admired by others in the neighborhood. Something funny about me is that I have always hovered around the kitchen table at meals times, and when the Peterson’s children were young, I would regularly have yogurt or milk splattered all over my head, back, and ears.
My family says that I am lazy, stubborn, and untrainable. But they also say that I am a joy to have lying on your lap for hours at a time. In fact, as soon as someone sits down on a couch, I insist that the person help me up so that I can sit right on top of them. I also insist on sleeping in the human bed (which is much bigger and comfier than mine) at night, and I will howl if someone doesn’t help me up there.
Well, that’s all for now! I hope you enjoyed learning about me, and I hope you come back soon!
